About Me

They say the mind is a terrible thing to waste. I have the lovely tendency of wasting my time more than anything, so here is a small attempt at updating the logbook of my life which I committed to screenspace about 3 years ago (translation- This is who I am. Read at your own will).

I am a citizen of Canada. Yes, I know that the link goes to Yahoo's Canadian search engine, but isn't our media who we are? Let's end the tomfoolery and admit that as canucks, we're nothing more than a repackaged version of the crazy Yankees south of our border, except that we can stand the cold and still enjoy playing hockey on frozen ponds. That, and we're a little less violent.

I am an artist. Now more than ever, in fact. Since I bravely displayed my quasi-poetry to the world back in the summer of '97, my limbs have branched out into a whole new realm of artistic sorties: my short-lived experience as a new media publisher and author, web designer, and musician (Check out new years or If I had an Electric Guitar). This is not counting the arsenal I keep in my possession, with enough poetry and prose to choke Edgar Allen Poe's horse. I plan on releasing this dearth of media in my own good time, so tell your friends and revel in my glorious errors (and successes).

I am also an idealist. An old friend told me this over a beer one night, and I've come to the stark conclusion that he is right. I believe what I believe because it is right. This may sound like a circular argument to all of you students of Plato but forget logic for a time. This is my soapbox. Gape in slack-jawed empathy.

I support anti-consumerism. Buying things may seem to make the day go smoother, but ultimately they leave you wanting more. The world doesn't have "more". It has a finite amount of "stuff", and our culture validates the belief that we will pull more out of the little we've got left. All those Buddhists and Hindus can't be wrong. There is more to live for. Grow, think, and learn as a person. Leave a mark--not a landfill. Join us.

I am also a cannabis sativa loyalist. If you are a present/future employer, please ignore this AND/OR reward me for my brave exercise of my freedom of speech. Yes, I am willing to stand up and be counted. I take the enormous risk of consuming a plant recreationally that is known as nothing more than a harmless trip. I hope that this does not offend you, but if it does, you need to make some hard decisions.

I will close by saying that I've changed somewhat in the past 3 years, when I was a just-hit-17 year-old with a will to disturb. I'm not perfect--in fact, life is fundamentally flawed, but that is besides the point--but I think I'm on an upwards slope. I hope that these pixels were organized in such a manner that you gained some insight into what makes me tick.

By the way, if you are wondering where my old stats page went, I felt it was time for some upgrading.
